Emir of Okuta assures of more support for Free Net Initiative
The Emir of Okuta, Alhaji Abubakar Sero Idris, Kperogi-Afon Serobetete III, has embraced the free net campaign initiative which is currently going on in 15 Local Government Areas of Kwara State.
The monarch who is also the Chairman, Baruten Traditional Council, on Wednesday thanked the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for bringing the programme to his domain even as he promised to give his total support towards the success of the campaign in the area. Alhaji Idris stated this at his palace when members of the free net campaign initiative visited him.
The State Supervisor of the programme, Alhaja Akande Fausat, disclosed that “there is significant improvement and more awareness at this period. There was rejection of the free net campaign in 2011 here in Baruten due to some misconceptions.
But now, Baruten local government area has received and keyed into the campaign for long lasting insecticidal nets (LLIN) positively. The people happily welcome the development this time round because of the proper education and sensitization that was given to them.”
She further stressed that, “The net cards which will qualify Read also: 9 police cops nabbed over alleged corruption people to get the free nets are finished and more net cards was requested for in preparation for the distribution day which will commence on the 28th September, 2017.”
