The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has appealed to residents of Ilorin and Kwarans at large to be safety conscious and ensure adequate protection of lives and property in their neighbourhood.
The Emir spoke before he depart Istanbul, Republic of Turkiye on Sunday, according to a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari expressed sadness over the numerous fire outbreak incidences that occurred in Ilorin which claimed property worth several millions of Naira stressing that, “It is unfortunate to see destruction of property at this critical period of economic trial.”
He sympathised with victims of the inferno and prayed that Almighty Allah will grant them the support that they desire to cope with the situation.
He also expressed sadness over the demise of Tunji Abdulqodir in police custody on Saturday saying “This is rude shock and regrettable incidence, seeing a promising young man die in such a inhumane situation.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari commiserates with the family members, friends and associates of the deceased and urged the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, probe into the circumstance that led into the demise of Tunji AbdulQodir.
The Emir also advised authorities of relevant security agencies to ensure strict enforcement of professionalism and compliance to global ethical practices in their daily conducts with members of the society.
