Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Good Governance, CCSOGG, has likened the attacks on Police personnel during the recent #EndSARS protests by the youths in many parts of the country to “coup against the peace and stability of Nigeria.”

Speaking to journalists at the in Abuja on the alleged continuous assault on the Police, the group’s chief convener, Comrade Olayemi Success, said those condemning the security agents “are confirmed enemies of the nation”, saying they deserved the praises and support of all Nigerians for their efforts and sacrifices during the protests.

“As you are all aware that the last few weeks in our dear nation have been very challenging especially the violence protest, arson, looting and killing of our gallant Police officers, these crimes are so cruel to the extent that the morale of our security agents especially the police is at its lowest ebb and the implications of this will be too gravious to bear if something is not done to correct the ugly trend”, Olayemi said.

He particularly accused the Amnesty International Nigeria, for its “fake and destructive reports, which alleged that that Nigeria Police killed EndSARS peaceful protesters,” describing it as “very offensive and deliberate mischief against the peace and stability of Nigeria”, adding that it condemned in totalty everything that Armnesty International represents in the country.

Olayemi also condemned the decision of a faction of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA to “offer free legal services to some arrested arsonists and looters as a way to encourage other criminal minded protesters without condemning the killing of our gallant Police officers by these set of people,” describing it as “one of the greatest unpatriotic position of a supposedly revered association.”

The group leader, however, reminded politicians that they can only lead Nigeria when the country is at peace and united, urging those who “believe they can get into power through crooked means other than ballots to stop decieving themselves as Nigerians will definitely resist them when their trades are exposed.”

He particularly advised the leadership of the Police and its entire to continue to discharge their responsibilities professionally, saying majority of Nigerians appreciate their sacrifices to provide security of lives and properties.

“In fact, they are truly the heroes of Nigeria’s peace, unity and stability, and they should know that we hold them in a very high esteem both now and for ever,” Olayemi said.
