A former Chairman of Kwara United FC of Ilorin, Prince Oladimeji Thompson, has said that Sports journalism is improving with an appreciable rate than it used to be before now in Nigeria.

ROYAL NEWS reports that Thompson made this assertion when he received his Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), honourary membership card on Friday.

The former Harmony Boys chairman, who is one of the patrons of the association in the state said he is delighted to be associated with the body.

“SWAN is doing very well these days hence the reason I accepted to be your patron.

“I will continue to be part of you guys and I will also do more for our association so that Kwara SWAN will be one of the best in Nigeria” Thompson said.

The former board member of Nigeria National League (NNL), urged the association to fight quackery as it will help to maintain the sanity the body has attained in recent years.

In his reaction, the state chairman of the association, Malam Jimoh Bashir, thanked Prince Oladimeji Thompson for his support to the body especially on his financial assistant towards the construction of its secretariat.

“We don’t just pick people as our patrons but people with integrity and proven track records.

“As Oliver Twist, we will still continue to seek your support towards the completion of our Secretariat as it remains the top priority of the present leadership of SWAN in Kwara” Bashir said.
