Contrary to claim by the Federal Government that 2000 special security personnel was deployed to Zamfara to tackle increasing cases of insecurity in the state, no fewer fewer than 540 personnel are currently on the field.

It would be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had recently disclosed this shortly after Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to him, the 2000 security personnel will comprise military, civil defense and the police, adding that the joint operation will commence in two weeks.

He said “we have resolved to send a team to Zamfara, comprising the military, civil defense, police to ensure that we have maximum protection of people and properties there.”

He added that the meeting went well and was an opportunity to interface with the President on the security challenges in the country.

ROYAL NEWS exclusively gathered that saboteurs within the security circle have ensure that the numbers of personnel deployed are grossly insufficient while the total sum approved for their wellbeing was also slashed.

A source who confided in this medium disclosed that, “Although, the federal government approved the sum of N90,000 has allowance for each officer, unfortunately, the sum of N60,000 was announced to us while it was also claimed that N21,000 out of the said amount is being used to feed us.”

According to the source, “In fact, we also had that Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz  Yari, also gave the sum of 30, 000 as remuneration for all the officer too. We have received nothing.

” There was also supply of body armour, uniform, helmet among others but none has been given and we are asked to be entering the bush without any of these equipment being provided.

”Therefore, we are being paid N39,000 each. I think this is grossly inhuman and godly considering the laudable provision made by the federal government to provide security for Nigerians. It is however out of hand considering the way we are being starved here. Not only that the meals are rationed and insufficient, it has no quality at all.”

The source however appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify efforts towards probing into the activities of the committee in-charge of the Zamfara Security Programme.
