Federal Government currently owes soldiers who are on the frontline combating insurgency in the northeastern part of Nigeria about seven months’ allowances, ROYAL NEWS reports.

In an exclusive telephone interview on Friday with a soldier in Askira village one of the location of the Nigeria Army troops who are fighting the Boko Haram sect, it was gathered that little or no attention is being given to the welfare of soldiers.

The source who pleaded anonymity told ROYAL NEWS that while Boko Haram members who are captured by the Nigerian Army troops are well-fed in their respective confined locations, soldiers are starving.

According to the source, “I can confirm to you that the just released 82 Chibok girls is a planned work. It is like they have been kept some where before. We have cleared everywhere with no traces of any hideouts for anybody again. Where do they now got this set of victims again?

“Currently, we are being owed seven months allowance of N30, 000 per month. We even learnt that the Boko Haram sect we arrested in the past have been moved from Kuje Prison to another location in Taraba State. They are there enjoying and well fed at our own detriment.”

The source however pleaded with the federal government to rise to the numerous challenges affecting the welfare of soldiers as part of efforts towards combating insurgency, crime and criminality in the nation.
