FG commences implementation of 3yrs educational plan —- Minister

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has tasked the newly inaugurated members of the board and parastatals as well as Universities under the ministry to be dedicated, patriotic and demonstrate high level of professionalism.

He also disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Education has commenced the implementation of its ministerial plan 2016 to 2019 and urged the boards to study and know the content of the plan.

ROYAL NEWS reports that members of 19 parastatals and two universities were inaugurated on Friday.

The new appointees are: Professor Ayo Banjo, Nigerian Universities Commission,  (NUC),  Zaynab Alkali,
National Library Board, (NLB) Dr. Abubakar Siddique, National Examination Council, (NECO), Dr. Mahmud Abubakar, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Gidado Bello Akko, National Commission for Mass Literacy, (NCML) and Prof. Gidado Tahir, Nomadic Education  Commission, (NEC).

Others are; Prof. Leonard Kashima, National Business and Technical Education Board, (NABTEB), Prof. Adamu Baike;Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, (TRCN), Alhaji  Maigari, National Commission for Colleges  of Education, (NCCE), Chief Emeka Nwajiuba; Tertiary  Education Trust Fund, (TETFund), Senator Kaka Mallam Yale, National Teachers Institute, (NTI), and Prof.  Buba Bajoga, National Mathematical Centre, (NMC).

Also inaugurated are boards of National Institute of Nigerian Languages, (NINL), Chief Nkwo Nnabuchi, Research and Education Council, (REC) Chief Paul Unongo; Nigerian French Language Village, (NFLV), National Board for Technical Education, (NBTE), Prof. Modupe Adelabu; National Arabic Language Village Maiduguri, Prof. O. Oladusi; National Institute for Nigerian Languages and Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Chief Timipriye Silva.

However,  while Prof. Peter Okebukola was inaugurated and the Chairman for National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe was appointed for Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

 

Malam Adamu who admonished them He to live by example by being disciplined and diligent in discharging their responsibilities said: “With your appointment as governing boards, I expect you to play your roles with skill and efficiency.”

According to him, “You must be courageous, innovative and responsible. You are expected to provide governance and the type of leadership that will engender transparency and accountability as well as support the pursuit of the mandate of your agencies”.
