FG urged to fast-track Ilorin-Saadu-Jebba highway rehabilitation
The Federal Government has been urged to expedient action on the rehabilitation work going on along Eyekonrin/Oko-Olowo axis of Ilorin-Saadu-Jebba express way.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday by the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) signed its the National President of the association, Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde Salau and the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Uthman Jagunma.
ROYAL NEWS reports that as a result of the ongoing rehabilitation, heavy trucks now pass through the city of Ilorin due to the deplorable state of the axis.
IEYDA in a letter to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA)and Federal ministry of works, power and housing said that the present development was dangerous to the residents of the town.
The association also expressed worries that with the high influx and reckless driving of the haulage vehicles, it portend a serious danger to the lives of the residents of the Kwara state capital.
It noted that the people were not used to heavy movement of the lorries and as such had created palpable fears among the residents.
The leadership of the group however expressed optimism that the, the appeal has been tendered before the appropriate ministry and Agency (FERMA)and would do the needful considering what might be the consequences of a further delay.
The statement therefore maintained that prompt response by the relevant government ministry, department and agency would enable the vehicles to return back to their normal route.
