FINANCE COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS GOV. ABDULRAZAQ ON SUPPORT FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS

The Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, has applauded the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to improving the welfare of healthcare workers through various health intervention programmes in the State.

Dr. Nuru stated this while delivering a lecture on the importance of teamwork and collaboration in the healthcare sector during a seminar organized by the Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB) for healthcare workers across the State.The event was held at the Ministry of Health in Ilorin, the State Capital.

In her speech, Dr. Nuru expressed deep appreciation to Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his exemplary leadership and unwavering support for healthcare workers, particularly those in rural areas. She emphasized that this support is crucial for achieving the desired improvements in the healthcare service delivery.

Presenting her paper on the importance of teamwork and collaboration in healthcare, Dr. Nuru highlighted that healthcare is a demanding and complex field that necessitates a high level of cooperation among healthcare professionals to provide the best quality care for patients.

Dr. Nuru who explained that the ultimate goal of every healthcare facility is to deliver quality care to patients, reiterated that teamwork is the cornerstone of enhanced healthcare delivery. Effective teamwork, she noted, is the key to improving optimal care and ensuring efficient operations in healthcare facilities in the State.

She added that fostering a harmonious environment where healthcare professionals can delegate tasks, coordinate schedules, and share information is essential for increased efficiency and effective healthcare delivery. This collaborative approach not only enhances patient satisfaction but also leads to a better overall healthcare experience.

The Commissioner who expressed her appreciation to the leadership and entire management team of the Hospital Management Board, thanked them for the impactful seminar. She emphasized that the importance of collaboration and teamwork in the healthcare sector cannot be overstated, as it plays a critical role in reducing the risk of medication errors which can lead to severe consequences, including adverse reactions and even death. She advised that by working together, healthcare teams can adopt a minute-by-minute approach to patient care, ensuring the highest standard of care.

Dr. Nuru encouraged healthcare workers to cultivate a culture of collaboration and teamwork within the healthcare sector. By doing so, they can create a more supportive work environment that reduces burnout and work-related stress, fostering an atmosphere where productivity and efficiency thrive. She concluded that building strong teams will not only reduce stress but also enhance job satisfaction and overall workplace morale.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Hospital Management Board, (KW-HMB) Dr. Abdulraheem Malik said that the training seminar was intended to enhance capacity development in the service delivery by making staff proactive for healthcare development and to ensure efficiency in the discharge of their respective duties.

Dr. Malik commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for regular trainings of health workers in the State and charged the healthcare workers to put into use the knowledge derived from the seminar.

The Executive Secretary re-emphasized the issue of lack of good customer service, patient care and constant conflict with the public in all hospitals as a systematic problem that the management of the Board is determined to end through constant trainings for attitudinal change.
