Firm acquires 250 hectares of land for Farm Estate in Kwara
A leading indigenous Agriculture Consultancy firm, Heart and Capital limited has acquired 25 hectares of farm land for Farm Estate in Ojoku, Oyun Local Government of Kwara State, ROYAL NEWS has gathered.
Mallam Umar Adelodun, co-founder of Heart and Capital Nig Ltd made this known on Friday in Ilorin during the launch of the company.
Adelodun said land would be leased to anybody that want to go into farming at the farm estate; adding this was to encourage the youth to embrace farming in modern way.
According to him, benefits of having a farm in the estate include cleared land, mechanization, adequate security, farm insurance and ready market for farm produce.
Adelodun said himself and partner, Mallam Abdulquawiy Olododo started their farm in 2014 on two hectares of land cultivating maize, Watermelon, Cassava and Rice.
“Heart and Capital Nigeria Ltd, a leading Agric Revolutionary Company is aimed at strengthening the nation’s food security.
“It is set to create windows of opportunities for Nigerians on the need to discover more sustainable business acumen towards a reliable future.
He disclosed that the company will be offering professional farm management, farm consultancy and supply of farm inputs to farmers in the estate.
“With this platform, individuals and corporate organizations can engage in farming themselves in an enabling environment or engage farming by-proxy with high return on investment.
“We decided to embark on this project and offer these services because we believe we can do things differently and better in the face of numerous odds,” Adelodun added.
He said the company will also go into what he called Farm Business Training that would commence this year.
“Our major targets are the youths like us because the youths whom are regarded as the bedrock and the future of the nation constitute 85percent of the growing Nigeria’s population.
“If really, Agriculture is the future of our nation you all have to agree with me when I say that there is an urgent and inevitable need to fuse these 2 (agriculture and youths) together.
“In order to guarantee the nation’s food security and compliment the effort of the government in the area of job creation, we at H&C with the support of our partners are ready to effectively pilot this fusion,” he said.
Acording to him, H& C has secured the partnership of Leadway Assurance Company to provide agric insurance to farmers in the estate and Golden Fertilizer, to provide fertilisers.
To ensure ready market for the farm estate produce, Adelodun said Flour Mills of Nigeria has agreed to partner the company while Aerial Advantage Global will provide aerial surveillance of the farm.
He therefore called on government at all levels, corporate organizations, individuals to key into these projects of revolutionizing the Agricultural Sector.
Adelodun assured prospective farmers in the farm estate of bountiful harvest and maximum security of the farm.
He added that farmers in the estate can get up to 35 percent on return of investment.
In a remark, Hon Anu Ibiwoye, former Special Adviser to Gov Ahmed on Agric, commended the vision and courage of the founders of H&C.
He described Agriculture as the business of the moment in the country, capable of stimulating the economy and provides employment to the youth.
The Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof Na’allah described the occasion as a great day for the university because the founders of H&C were products of KWASU.
He said the success of the two young men was a success for the university, describing Adelodun and Olododo as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
The VC therefore called on parents to stop taking curriculum vitae of their children around for white collar jobs, adding that they should support their children to be on their own.
Prof Na’Allah called on universities and research institutions to come up with storage facilities for farm produce to stop wastage of farm products.
