The Emir of Gwandu and Chairman Kebbi State Traditional Rulers, Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu-Bashar, has urged Nigerians to demonstrate high sense of patriotism to promote peace and unity in the country amidst the ravaging economic crisis.

He stated this during a banquet organised in honour of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Georgewill Owunary, at his palace in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

“Nigeria is a big country and contains so much, we must sacrifice to keep it one”.

The royal father thanked God Almighty for giving him the opportunity to serve in different capacities across the nation.

He also appreciated the VC and his subordinates for running the university smoothly.

Earlier, Owunary lauded the gesture, describing it as an honour he never received in his life.

Represented by Prof. Clifford Obiyo-Ofurun, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Owunary tasked Nigerians on humility, unity and oneness.

He described the emir as an embodiment of unity, peace and national cohesion, while thanking him for what he has been doing for the university and the country at large.
