A Non Governmental Organisation, based in Kwara state, Gbenga Power Foundation, has donated sports and educational materials worth several millions of naira to schools in the state.
The foundation said that, the donation became imperative so as to tap young talented athletes in schools and also to enhance their educational attainments.
Speaking at the St. Anthony Secondary school, Ilorin, the chairman and founder of the foundation, Hon. Gbenga Power said that, the donation of sporting, educational and writing materials to students worth several millions of naira was done across schools in the state.

He said that, the donation was part of the social responsibility of the foundation to make life more bearable to the people of the state especially youths, less privileged and womenfolks.
According to him “the foundation embarked on this rescue mission about 10 years ago to bring new lease of life to the people of the state”.
He recalled that, the foundation had given scholarships to some students across the 16 local government councils of the state so as to advance education in the state.
This new gesture he said would help the students to avail themselves with the sporting materials donated to the school so as to prepare them to acheive their goals in the sporting activities in the state.
He said that, this would also go a long way on preparing them to be good ambassadors of the state in the area of their chosen sporting career in the future.
While calling.on. other sports phillantropists in the state to come out to join hands with the new governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in the task of moving sports forward, the chairman of the foundation said that, “the recent visit of the governor to the Ilorin sports stadium a few days after he was sworn-in showed that he is committed to sports development.
“And all efforts should be done to complement gesture of the governor in the area of sports development in order to take the state to a greater height”
Hon. Gbenga-Power however enjoined the students to be more focused and dedicated to their academic pursuits so as to make them a rare gem in their future academic excellence.
Responding, the principal of the school, Mrs. E. F Afolayan appreciated the kind gestures of Hon Gbenga -Power and its foundation for his love for sport and educational development of the State.
