Gov Ahmed calls for more opportunities for women

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has advocated more opportunities for women in Nigeria, saying that African women deserve more space in political environment.

Governor Ahmed made the call on Tuesday when he received the newly elected officials of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Kwara State, led by its Chairperson, Barrister Salmat Muhammed at the Government House, Ilorin.

“Women have demonstrated that they can deliver and work better than men in some capacities. So, residual superstitious belief against African women must be checked as productivity requires collective efforts.”

According to the governor, “productivity means that all hands must be on deck. Everybody has a role to play and that necessarily shapes the role that individuals will play. FIDA serves a dual role of not only guaranteeing rights of women but a most importantly, it serves as a platform for recognizing human capital development.”
