Gov. Ahmed hosts British Dep. High Commissioner, reiterate commitment to nation-building

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed on Tuesday reiterated government’s commitment to building economic prosperity in the state by encouraging Public Private Partnership through already existing enabling environment. 


Dr Ahmed who made the disclosure while receiving the British Deputy High Commissioner, Lagos, Laure Beaufils on a courtesy call at the Government House, Ilorin, said the state government is opened for partnership with any investor in an attempt to open up the state for economic prosperity. 

 

According to the governor, the state government is particularly ready for partnership on Energy, Human Capital Development, Agriculture and Entrepreneurship. 


“We’re particularly interested on creation of captive energy support through which required energy we be created on need basis”, the governor said.


Governor Ahmed who identified lack of electricity and infrastructure as greatest impediments to economic advancement of any nation, explained that the state opted for solar energy supporting system in order to boost the state’s economy.


The governor also promised to create necessary interface with potential investors in agriculture while explaining that agriculture offers a better alternative for economic prosperity for the country.


Earlier, the British Deputy Commissioner, Laure Beaufils had told the governor that she was on a two day visit to Kwara state to familiarise herself with the people and their economic potentials.


The Deputy High Commissioner expressed the commitment of the British government to investing in the girl child and the vulnerable groups of the society.
