Gov. Ahmed warns against hate speeches

especially the opposition parties to desist from hate speeches in the overall interest of the state.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  stakeholders held at the banquet hall, Ilorin, the governor said his government is open to constructive criticism, suggestions and advice on how to move the state forward rather, but will not hesitate to seek redress in the appropriate court of law against hate speeches and incitement against law and order.
“My administration will continue to welcome constructive criticism as an essential component of inclusive governance and in the spirit of transparency. Our position is premised on the need to ensure that no individual exercises free speech at the expense of the society’s well-being and peace”, the governor said.
According to the governor, the government’s principled stand against hate speeches and incitement is not an attempt to bridge constitutionally guaranteed rights to freedom of expression, but ensure protection of the people against violence.
On the fuel situation in the state, Governor Ahmed warned petroleum marketers against hoarding of fuel and other infractions or face the full wrath of the law.
The governor assured the people of the State that the government would partner the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in checking sharp practices in the petroleum industry.
Dr Ahmed called on all stakeholders in the industry to ensure that products procured are properly dispensed in order not to cause untold hardship on the masses.
Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Ishola explained that the leadership of the party was already working out mechanisms towards fortifying the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.
