Gov. Mutawalle sacks Zakat Board boss, 2 others

Governor Bello Mutawalle of Zamfara State has approved the sack of the Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Zakat and Endowment Board, Bashir Gusau.

Also relieved of their positions were the Director in charge of Zakat collection, Alhaji Ibrahim Tudu, and Director, Distribution, Dalhatu Umar Jauri.

Addressing journalists in Gusau on Friday, the chairman of the board, Prof Kabiru Jabaka, said the officers were fired following the expiration of their tenure.

Jabaka said, ‘’The affected officers have been operating illegally after the expiration of their tenure and the board held a meeting where it was decided that their appointments be terminated with effect from.”

He claimed the secretary never submitted policies and work plans for the board to approve contrary to the provisions of the laws that established the board.

Jabaka claimed the continued stay in office of the three officers despite the expiration of their tenure had crippled the activities of the board.
