The Kwara State Government has assured Kwarans of access to quality healthcare delivery, in order to ensure healthy living for all.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam gave the assurance during the unveiling of the newly renovated General Hospital, Afon, the Headquarters of Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, of recent.
El-Imam who reaffirmed the present administration’s commitments to quality healthcare delivery for all, enjoined the people of Afon and environs to patronize the facility, by taking full advantage of it and support the government’s efforts at ensuring its proper use.
She emphasized the fact that, government’s huge investment in renovating and equipping the hospital, was aimed at addressing the welfare of the people, especially at the grassroots.
The Commissioner disclosed that the milestone project marks another significant step in Kwara State Government’s ongoing efforts at enhancing healthcare services and provisions of infrastructural facilities, across board.
She therefore, called on the Asa Local Government Council, to take ownership of the facility by ensuring proper maintenance, effective supervision, and increased patronage.
Dr El-Imam thereafter, appealed to stakeholders to support healthcare empowerments by sponsoring health insurance enrollment, for vulnerable members of their various communities.
In his remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, member, representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, Hon. Seun Oguniyi, also disclosed that the upgraded hospital now has the capacity to adequately serve Afon and neighboring communities, commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for prioritizing the health and well-being of good people of Kwara State.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Yahyah Shehu thanked the state government for its kind gesture towards the people, charging residents to continue supporting this administration, for them to further benefit from developmental project and other dividends of democracy.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including; Member representing Afon Constituency, Hon. Yinusa Oniboki; Member representing Owode Onire Constituency, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, community Leaders and other key stakeholders in Asa Local Government.
