Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, has called for the reverse of the Consolidated Salary Structure, CONLESS of the National Assembly, describing it as faulty and unsustainable.

According to her, the processes that resulted in the current salary structure of civil servants in the National Assembly were not only faulty, but illegal.

Yemi-Esan, at a meeting with the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, faulted the amendment made by the 8th National Assembly to effect a consolidated salary structure for civil servants in the federal legislature.

In her view, the National Assembly ought to reverse the salary structure currently being operated by the National Assembly.

The Head of Service argued that the National Assembly is not different from the core civil service to warrant a consolidated salary structure.

She, however, advised that the salary structure like the condition of service be discontinued and reversed for due process to be followed.

If the leadership of the National Assembly gives in to her advice, staff of the federal legislative arm of government would cease to benefit from the consolidated salary structure.

In 2010, the National Assembly effected some changes in line with the condition of service currently being operated hence the salary structure as it stands today.
