……. Emir support Kwara North governorship project
The Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Mu’azu Omar, has assured a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, of the total support of the people of the community in the Kwara North gubernatorial struggle.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the monarch who stated this on Tuesday night while receiving the aspirant in his palace noted that, “It is the turn of Kwara North to produce the next governor of the state irrespective of their political party differences.”
The aspirant had earlier promised to rehabilitate the Bode-Kaiama and Kaiama-Kosubosu-Chikanda roads to further boost the economic potentials of the people of the area noting that, “Prior to 1915, there was nothing like Ilorin province. All we had then was Nupe and Kotangora provinces respectively.
“When the colonialists wanted to join Ilorin with the south-western part and the then Sultan resisted and the only thing they could do then to avert the situation was to merge all the provinces together to later become Ilorin Province for administrative convenience as well as foster peace and unity.It is therefore expected that the people Kwara Central would join us in assisting us in getting what belongs to us because we have always being supportive to their projects.
“Kwara Central had been governor for 12 years, Kwara South had done for eight, therefore it is the turn of Kwara North to occupy the position in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice.”
He added that, “It is saddened to know that Kwara State government does not have up to eight tractors while other states can boost of 1000 tractors or more. Insha Allah, if I get your support to become the Governor of the state, more job opportunities would be created for our youths in the area of agriculture and wealth creation.
“Kaiama is blessed with vast arable lands suitable for the cultivation of cotton and other cash crops. We shall also facilitate the establishment of textile indutries in this area. Some of youths are now addicted to drugs out of frustration and joblessness. This calls for urgent attention for the sake of the future of our state and generations yet unborn.”
“The first contract that would be executed is to award Bode-Kaiama and Kaiama-Kosubosu-Chikanda in order to maintain the tides of Kaiama and Baruten local government areas respectively with other parts of Kwara State. It is only in Kwara State that you have to through another state (Kisi and Saki in Oyo State) before connecting to other local communities.”
Meanwhile, the Kaiama Elders Forum led by the Sardauna Kaiama, Alhaji Salihu Ahmed, assured the aspirant of readiness of the entire people of the area in ensuring that Kwara North candidate emerge in the forthcoming.
“Kaiama is APC and we shall massively support President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid as well as Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi’s Kwara State governorship project. Our living standard is worrisome, our socio-economic bases are deteriorating and the future of our youths is not guaranteed due to bad governance”, he added.
