Ile Arugbo: Let court decide over the matter— Gbenga Awoyale

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and President-General of Orisun Igbomina, a socio-cultural group in the Kwara South, Chief Gbenga Awoyale, has reacted to the composition of a 29 member committee set up to resolve the ongoing ‘Ile-Arugbo’ crisis.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the Kwara State Government had ordered the revocation of the land on which Ile-Arugbo, a property belonging to the Saraki family, as well as the demolition of the structure.

In a statment signed on Tuesday, Chief Awoyale maintained that, “Our attention has been drawn to a so called 29 man stakeholders committee set up to wade into Ile-Arugbo dispute by unknown body and populated by people from Kwara Central.

“We wish to state that there is no dispute on the land in question as far as we are concern. We wish to also note that the said land belongs to the Kwara State government invariably all Kwarans and should not be reduced to a Kwara Central affairs but that of the entire Kwara state against any illegal occupier of what was suppose to house a secretariat that will be beneficial to all.”

The Igbomina stalwart added that, “Since it is now a court matter between the Kwara state government and the Illegal occupants, any ill planned intervention by any group or individual under any disguise will be sub-judice.

“Again we re-emphasized that the land is the property of Kwara state comprising the three senatorial district and by God’s grace will remain so.”
