The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has pledged to continue to bridge the gap between African countries and institutions by encouraging and welcoming partnership with sister universities in the continent in order to promote African brotherhood.

The VC stated this during a luncheon in honour of a delegation of academic and non-academic staff of the University of Abomey-Calavi, Republic of Benin.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the delegation came to the University through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to attend a language training programme organized by the Linguistic Immersion Center, University of Ilorin.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. N. Y. S. Ijaiya, the VC noted that “the relationship between the institutions is very good and a welcome development because there is needs for integration among the communities of the world particularly those who are neighbours.

“It is always our pleasure in this University to have our brothers and sisters from all over Africa on our campus. We are all the same because the Almighty God that created us made us to appear in the same colour”.

“We might be diverse in language, but He makes sure that we can learn each other’s language and interact with one another. This is why we are always happy to have our brothers and sisters around us.”

He further stressed that, “This development is very good for Africa and for the rest of the world. Now the language of the world is globalization, not just globalization but it is globalization with partnership, so that we can bridge the gap that exists between the countries of the world”.

Ambali however appreciated the Director of the Linguistic Immersion Centre, Dr (Mrs.) Elizabeth De-Campos, for putting the programme together even as he commended all staff of the Centre who have been instrumental to the fulfillment of the dream and aspiration of the University by ensuring that the Centre continues to grow.
