I’m aware of challenges facing education sector — Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari at the weekend confessed that the federal government under his close watch was fully aware of ‘the numerous challenges confronting the education sector stressing that ministerial summit will be conveyed to tackle the menace.

The President who spoke at the 33rd convocation ceremonies and commissioning of newly completed projects at the University of Ilorin added that his government will respect and recognize legitimate aspirations by the citizens provided they are done with good faith, within the bounds of rationality and without infringing on the rights of others.

Represented by the Executive Secretary, National University’s Commission, Professor Abdulrasheed Abubakar, the President said: ‘‘I want to admonish you all to be careful in the excessive display of intolerance, rancour, hostility, mutual suspicion and all such capable of causing social unrest in the nation.

” Those who fan the embers of division must refrain from the unacceptable tendencies, retrace their steps and learn to live together with one another. This government will respect and recognize legitimate aspirations of the citizens but this should be done with good faith ,within the bounds of rationality and without infringing on the rights of others. I urge all of you to shun violence as it is only in atmosphere of peace that we can make true progress’’.

Speaking further, Buhari’s stressed that, “Nigeria is on the verge of economic recovery from a short and painful recession which he said would require more productivity for from citizes to consolidate on the gains .

“Our nation is on the verge of economic recovery, having just exited a short but painful recession. To sustain this recovery and for all of us to experience real change in our living condition, we must be ready to build on the achievements already recorded.

” All must be involved in productive activities in every area of the economy that we are engaged in my administration shall continue to drive its economic programmes to consolidate the gains already made in key economic areas such as Agriculture, infrastructure development ,and sustained war against corruption’’.
