Int’l Youth Day: Govt urged to prioritize economy revamping, youth empowerment

Governments at all levels have urged to be more committed to the revamping of the economy in a bid to further sustain the nation’s democracy as well as create more opportunities for the youths.

The Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association (IEYDA) stated this in a statement issued to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day.

IEYDA’s National President, Alh. Abdullahi Babatunde Salau and National Publicity Secretary, Alh Muhammed Uthman Jagunma, in the statement, called on state governments to come up with programmes and policies aimed at incorporating and integrating the youths especially those at grassroot into governance to ease the unbearable hardship.

The group also disclosed that youths in the country should not to relent in participating in politics and contribute their quotas in the political, economic and social development of the country.

It reads; The International Youth Day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.

The Ilorin Emirate Youth also cautioned youths against social vices but rather champion the virtues of hard work, integrity, honesty, pursuit of knowledge and the quest for innovation and pathfinding.

The IEYDA maintained that the success of the country depended on the full participation and engagement of youths in the planning, implementation and monitoring of policies.
