The Jigawa State Government has approved ₦2.6 billion for the 2026 Hajj exercise to support the transportation and welfare of pilgrims from the state. The approval was granted at the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday in Dutse.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa, said the funds would cover key aspects of the pilgrimage, including air travel, accommodation, feeding, medical services, orientation programmes and other logistics required for the exercise.
Musa said the allocation was aimed at ensuring a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage for Jigawa pilgrims in line with guidelines issued by Saudi Arabian authorities. He stressed that transparency and accountability would guide the implementation of the programme.
He added that the state government had directed all relevant agencies to work collaboratively to ensure that intending pilgrims perform their religious obligations without undue difficulty.
