JUST IN…….. Quranic Competition: Buhari, Saraki, Dangote, others for closing ceremony

The formal closing ceremony for the 31st national Quranic memorization competition organized by the Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto comes up tomorrow Saturday 11th February 2017, in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Local Organizing Committee, the event will hold at Metropolitan Square along Asa Dam road, Ilorin and will also feature declaration of winners in the various categories as well as presentation of prizes.

At the close of the competition which was held at Al-Hikmah University, Adeta-Ilorin, no fewer than 32 states of the federation participated in the male and female categories.

Dignitaries expected at the event according to the statement include, President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Saad Abubakar, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Chairman of Dangote Groups, Alhaji Aliko Dangote among others.

Meanwhile, the general public are hereby informed that there will be free vehicles to convey interested participants to the venue of the event and also return them to their respective take -off locations.

“Interested participants are hereby advised to board vehicles at the following locations beginning from 8 o clock in the morning:

“The locations are: Oja Oba roundabout, Emir’s Palace Square Oloje roundabout, Omoda roundabout, Gambari junction, Ipata market, Unity roundabout, FOMWAN secretariat along Murtala Muhammad way, Darul Kitab college behind Royal Shekinah hotels, Ojagboro, Adeta roundabout, and Gaa-Akanbi junction.

“Members of Asalatu groups, students of Arabic and Islamic schools, market women, organizations and social and opinion groups are adviced to also be present at the event to commemorate the 200 years of the advent of Shehu Soliu Alimi to the city of Ilorin”, the statement added.
