JUST IN…….. UNILORIN, KAMWIRE set to collaborate on technological transfer to Nigerian youths
AUTHORITY of the University of Ilorin and the management of KAM Industries Nigeria Limited have expressed concern over the slow pace of development in the nation stressing that both establishments will collaborate for the benefit of the entire citizenry.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali stated this on Monday during his visit to KAM Industries’ Corporate headquarters along Asa Dam road, Ilorin the Kwara State Capital.
ROYAL NEWS reports that the VC was accompanied by no fewer than 50 heads of faculties, departments, units as well as the Registrar of the University, Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi among others.
Professor Ambali who described KAM Industries as a pride of Nigeria and Africa at large noted that, “We are here today to come and see the practical aspect of what we have been teaching our students. There is no doubt that both UNILORIN and KAM have things in common and these are; developing the nation through industrialization and improving on the nation through high manpower development.”
The VC further added that, “We are working towards producing practical engineers that will assist in fast-tracking stimulating the desired growth and development in Nigeria. Indeed, the founder KAM Industries is an asset to Nigerians and with the presence of UNILORIN in this environment; we are pride to KAM Industries.”
Professor Ambali also emphasized that, “We are here to learn how to be focused, more practical oriented, and how to overcome obstacles in periods of challenges. All these among others, we know we shall get through your wide experiences.”
In his remarks, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of KAM Industries, Dr. Kamorudeen Yusuf expressed readiness to adopt 10 best graduating students from the University of Ilorin every year.
This, he said will assist in the transferring of technology from the expatriates who are currently working with the firm to Nigerian youths in order to fast-track growth and development in Nigeria.
Dr. Yusuf who is also the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Kwara/Kogi Chapter also disclosed that no nation can develop without adequate attention to the study of science and technology-based courses urging Universities to also key into the policy.
He also commended the authority of UNILORIN for its good working stressing that, “If other Universities can be committed the like UNILORIN, we would not have problem of importing labour from abroad. We are ready to emback on transfer of technology to our youths.”
