The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled its Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Mustapha, and eight other senior officials for alleged gross misconduct, insubordination, and attempts to undermine the party’s leadership.
The decision followed an emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held in Kaduna on Wednesday, where the members resolved to take disciplinary action against those accused of breaching the party’s constitution.
Other expelled officials include State Publicity Secretary, Idris Musa; State Vice Chairman (Zone 1), Sulaiman Abdullahi; State Treasurer, Gambo Sani; State Financial Secretary, Magaji Maiwada; State Legal Adviser, Danlami Dabai Musa; Coordinator of Persons with Disabilities, Saura Muhammed; Deputy Youth Leader, Ibrahim Muhammed; and a member, Mansur Gaga.
In its resolution, the SEC accused the affected members of holding unauthorized meetings, forging official documents, and extorting money from party members—acts it said were capable of damaging the unity and public image of the ADC in Kaduna and the wider North-West zone.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Kaduna State ADC Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, said the expulsions were necessary to preserve party discipline and ensure adherence to due process.
“The leadership of the ADC in Kaduna is committed to discipline, transparency, and the rule of law. No individual, regardless of position, is above the party’s constitution,” Ambut stated.
He accused the Deputy Chairman, Mustapha, of abuse of office, impersonation, and conduct likely to cause disunity within the party. “These actions are a gross violation of the ADC constitution and contrary to established procedures. He has no authority to convene meetings or issue directives on behalf of the party,” Ambut added.
The party also announced the appointment of Deputy State Publicity Secretary, Alex Tagwai, as Acting Publicity Secretary pending further reorganization of the state executive.
Ambut said the decision was unanimously endorsed by the SEC, local government chairmen, and other stakeholders, adding that Tagwai would “ensure the smooth functioning of the publicity unit and maintain effective communication within the party.”
He urged members to remain calm and loyal to the recognized leadership, warning that further acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated.
