The Kano State Hisba Board has commenced preparations for a mass wedding involving no fewer than 2,000 couples, following a directive from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, the Deputy Commander-General of the Hisba Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen, said the process will begin with registration and mandatory medical screening for all intending couples.
“All prospective couples interested in the wedding must register before participating,” Sheikh Aminudeen stated.
He added that the compulsory medical tests would cover HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, genotype, and drug use, stressing that anyone who fails to undergo the screening would be disqualified.
According to him, the measure aims to safeguard the health and well-being of participants while preventing future marital and medical complications.
