The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a 43-year-old man, Abubakar Adodo, from Fagge Local Government Area, for allegedly attempting to traffic two women to Somalia through Benin Republic.
The Board’s Deputy Commander General, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, confirmed the arrest in a statement, explaining that the operation followed a credible tip-off from concerned citizens. “The operation was carried out by the Officer-in-Charge of Motor Parks Operations after we received credible information from Good Samaritans,” he said.
According to Hisbah, the victims — 22-year-old Hajara Ismail from Funtua and 33-year-old Bilkisu Haruna from Kofar Marusa, both in Katsina State — were intercepted alongside the suspect at a motor park in Kano while preparing to travel to Lagos, from where they intended to continue their journey to Somalia.
Abubakar said the suspect and the two women have since been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He commended the public for their vigilance and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information to combat human trafficking and related crimes in the state.
