The President of Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, (KWACCIMA) Dr Ahmed Adeoye Raji, has called for more synergy and patronage between the council and the state government so as to improve the economy of the state.
Raji who made the call in Ilorin the state capital while answering questions on a Radio KWARA personality interview programme, Playing Host said the council would go into a robust relationship with the government to boost the economy of the state.

The KWACCIMA president said such synergy would not only revive moribund industries in the state but also witness the springing up of new industries thereby creating more job opportunities for the unemployed youths. He urged the state government to identify all mining sites in the state and have a data of miners operating as another avenue for generating revenue for the government and bring about value addition to entrepreneurship in the state.

According to him, such miners would be charged a token thereby contributing to the economy rather than allowing them to operate illegally stressing that all the sixteen local government areas of the state are blessed with one mineral resources or the other.
He further assured that under his leadership, he has put in place a ten-point agenda which would further boost the economy of the state with a pledge to partner with the state government, expand the membership of the chamber from its present five hundred to a higher number and improve facilities at the secretariat.
The KWACCIMA President also disclosed that the primary assignment of the council which is a non-profitable outfit is to create jobs for the unemployed youth but however urged the government to create a conducive environment such as steady power supply, soft loan with single digit repayment facility, access roads and other infrastructure to the people.
He however commended the state government for providing the council with ten hectares of land at Lasoju in Asa local government but pleaded with the government to assist in developing it so that regular trade fairs, economic support and other activities will take place in the state.

“Arrangements have commenced by the council to organize a trade fair this year in the state which would attract investors from across the country and beyond while it would equally go into research and development with universities as a means of improving our agricultural programmes”, he added.
