Kwara AGILE to Secure Future of Children – KWSG

The Kwara State Government has expressed optimism that the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project will secure the future of Kwara child and help to reduce the number of Out-of-School Children (OOSC) in the State.

This was revealed during the week by the State Commissioner for Education and Chairman, Steering Committee of Kwara AGILE, Hon. Saadatu Modibbo Kawu, at a meeting with the Project Implementation Unit in her office.

The Commissioner, who congratulated the project officers on being chosen to work on such a delicate and critical education project in the State, assured them of the Ministry’s maximum support at reaching the Project Development Objective (PDO), which is to improve secondary opportunities among girls, with particular attention to adolescent girls, in the participating states.

Modibbo-Kawu, therefore, urged the team to work in unity while also creating a good relationship with the other seven (7) parent states, expressing optimism that the project will help to secure the future of Kwara girl-child.

She added that she will convene a meeting of the State Project Steering Committee (SPSC) soon in order to ensure that there is no delay in the approval of the work plan by the Bank and also help in fast-tracking project implementation.

Earlier in his speech, the Project Coordinator of Kwara AGILE, Mr. Adeshina Salami commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for facilitating the project to the state and also for releasing funds to help secure a project office.

He assured the Commissioner that his team is committed to achieving success in order to take Kwara to greater heights, especially in the education sector.

The Environmental Officer of the Project, Mr. Ayokanmi Owolabi, briefed the Commissioner on the recent workshop for Environmental, Social and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officers, organised by the World Bank in Abuja and also sought for more support from the Commissioner for the progress of the project.
