Kwara: America Chemical Society collaborates with Women in Chemistry
The Women in Chemistry (WIC) of Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Kwara Chapter in collaboration with American Chemical Society (ACS) Nigeria Chapter organized this year, International Union of Pure and Applied Chemists (IUPAC) /Global Women Breakfast (GWB) event on Tuesday 27th February, 2024 at Board Room, Chemistry Department, University of Ilorin.
With the theme: “Catalyzing Diversity in Science” the event began with opening remarks by Prof. Mrs. A.M.O. Abdul Raheem, the Head, Chemistry Department, while the opening speech by the National President of CSN, Prof. Rufus Sha՛Ato was delivered by Prof. O. S. Oguntoye (Chairman, CSN Kwara Chapter).
Speakers presented lectures on “ Green Chemistry for Sustainable Development which was delivered by Prof. O.M. Ameen , while Mrs. O. C. Olugbemi speaks on “ Entrepeneurship and Industrial Applications of Chemistry”.
Goodwill messages was delivered by the Dean, Physical Sciences, Prof. Baba A. Alafara, Prof. U. B, Eke (Former Dean, Physical Sciences), Prof .F.O. Nwosu (HOD, Industrial Chemistry) and Prof. Mrs. M.F. Zubair ( former Deputy Director, CRL) Participants at the event were : Prof. S.O.Owalude, Dr.Mrs. H.I. Adegoke, Dr, Mrs. M.O. Bamigboye, Dr. Mrs. M.T. Baker, Dr. Mrs. T.O. Abu Amoloye, Dr. A.O. Rajee. Dr. O.K. Yusuff, Dr. S.O. Ibrahim, Mrs. B. Ololu, Mrs. M. K. Subair, Mrs. A.Abdulqadir, Mrs. A.J. Aliu and Mrs Fakunle .
Members from Kwasu at the event were : Dr. Mrs. V.T. Bodunde, Dr. Mrs. O. T.Odeyemi, Dr. Mrs. B.E. Olanipekun, Mrs, R. A. Katibi- Abdullahi and Mrs. U.O. Imam Aliagan. Others were Mrs Adeyemo , Mrs. R, Salawu (NISPRI) and Postgraduate students.
The Coordinator , GWB ( Ilorin zone, Kwara Chapter) Dr. Mrs. A. Lawal showed appreciation to all the participants and speakers for the huge success of the 2024 IUPAC/ GWB event.
