Kwara Reaffirms Commitment to The WASH Sector

The Kwara State Government has again reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the WASH Sector in the state.

The reaffirmation was given at the 30th meeting of the National Council on Water Resources and Sanitation (NCWRS), held at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development in Abuja.

The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade disclosed that the state government was already putting up measures to ensure that the programme became successful in the state.

The Commissioner, who led the state delegation to the 2023 annual 30th regular meeting of the NCWRS, said that the conference provides opportunity to collaborate on water governance, and ensure sustainable management of water resources in the state, which aligns with the vision of Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq.

While emphasizing the link between water governance, national food security, and overall socio-economic development, Lade stressed that our participation allows Kwara to contribute, learn, and implement effective water policies for the benefit of its residents and the broader community in the state.

The theme of the conference was “People, Planet and Prosperity: Promoting Water Governance for National Food Security”.

The meeting was chaired by the Hon. Minister for Water Resources, Engr. Professor Joseph Utsev and Co-chaired by the Hon. Minister for State for Water Resources, Mallam Muhammed Goronyo.

Also, in attendance was the Hon. Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, as the host of the 4-Day event; National Assembly Members; Development Partners; Academia; NGOs; among others.
