The Kwara Government says it will soon embark on massive renovation and
equipping of general and cottage hospitals across the state.

The state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Sulyman Atolagbe, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Atolagbe said that the government would sustain the rehabilitation of health facilities to make healthcare services
delivery more accessible to Kwara residents.

He recalled that the state government, in December 2016, presented the 2017 Appropriation Bill of N135,064
billion to the state House of Assembly for consideration.
He said a reasonable sum was allocated to the health sector for capital expenditure.

The commissioner further disclosed that there would be recruitment of experts for the Harmony Diagnostic
Centre, Ilorin, to boost service delivery.

“Another area that we will focus this year is the public health with interventions for diseases such as malaria,

tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases as well as HIV/AIDS.
“This administration is committed to providing effective and efficient health care delivery to the citizens of the
state.

“The provision of high quality healthcare service has remained the priority of the state government,” he added.

The commissioner enumerated achievements of the state in the sector in the past year to include the scaling up
of the Health Insurance Scheme.

He said that this was done with the injection of N1 million to expand access to efficient and affordable
healthcare service delivery in the state.

He also listed the rehabilitation and equipping of Cottage Hospital, Igbaja, as well as that of Eggi-Oyo-Ipo
Primary Healthcare Centre, among others.
