The Kwara State Hospitality and Tourism Development Board has called on its staff to demonstrate renewed commitment, professionalism, and diligence as part of efforts to reposition the state’s tourism sector for growth in 2026.
The call was made by the Board’s Secretary, Mrs Ramat Adenike Akanni, during the first management meeting of the year held at her office. She described 2026 as a year of “positive turnaround” and urged staff to align their work ethic with the Board’s strategic objectives.
Mrs Akanni said management was considering departmental restructuring to improve efficiency and service delivery, noting that the proposed realignment is aimed at creating a more functional framework to drive the Board’s mandate.
She cautioned staff against indolence and absenteeism, stressing that consistent attendance and punctuality would be closely monitored through the official attendance register, which she described as a key performance verification tool.
The secretary also emphasised the importance of professional appearance, urging staff to dress neatly and appropriately, adding that personal conduct and appearance reflect integrity and institutional values.
Reaffirming her leadership approach, Mrs Akanni promised to maintain an open-door policy for innovative ideas and encouraged staff to resolve internal grievances through direct dialogue to foster a healthy and productive work environment.
She further called for a combination of spiritual dedication and professional excellence, expressing confidence that with collective effort, Kwara State’s tourism sector would regain its status as a major driver of socio-economic development.
