KWSG restates commitments to support MSME

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment and support to Artisans and Micro Small Medium Entrepreneurs through the ongoing Social Investment Schemes across the State.

The State Commissioner for Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun stated this while receiving the Association of Bakers, Kwara State Chapter, in her office.

The Commissioner appreciated the Association for providing job opportunities for the teeming youths and vulnerable groups in the State and for the generous contribution through the provision of one of the essential foods for Consumers across the State.

Hon. Damilola assured the Association of the Kwara State Government’s commitment to providing a friendly environment, adequate security as well as eradicate poverty through the Social Investment Schemes like Owo lsowo, Cash transfers, NG-CARE, together with numerous projects such as participating in schools feedings, construction of Information, Communication and Technology (lCT) Hub, Garment Factory, Sugar Factory Film Studios, llorin International Conference Centre (IlCC), construction of Sheanut Butter Processing Factory at Kaiama in Kwara North Senatorial District.

She added that these are few of the projects that the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbudulRahman AbudulRazaq, is embarking on to cushion the effects of the economy on the citizens in the State, while enjoining the Association to continue to work closely with the Ministry, as there are lots of window opportunities that are beneficial to the Association.

The Commissioner further explained that the Kwara State Government is networking with relevant Stakeholders in the State namely: National Agency for Food Drug Administration Control, Standard Organisation of Nigeria, Corporate Affairs Commission, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigeria Export Promotion Council and Nigeria Shippers Council, saying that this effort will facilitate the Ease of Doing Business and enable Manufacturers, Industries and Entrepreneurs to thrive in the State.

Earlier, the State Chairman, Kwara State Association of Bakers, Alhaji AbdulFatai Alaba, thanked the Kwara State Government for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, appreciating the Commissioner’s warm reception.

Alhaji Alaba enumerated the challenges facing the Association at this critical time in the country and noted that the equipment and materials used are very expensive now while some of their members have already closed down their factories, therefore, soliciting for the State Government’s support to enable them operate effectively.
