The Director of Disease Control of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Hamza Ibrahim Ikara, told the Nigerian News Agency that the two cases involved a man and a woman.

Mr. Ikara said the cases were reported in the Kubau and Chikun local government areas of the state, adding that these were the first cases reported this year.

The director said contact tracing was ongoing for those who had contact with the victims, while the state government had activated its surveillance for increased case detection and appropriate treatment.

He said the hazard communication team had also been alerted as awareness was ongoing through jingles, raising community awareness across the state.

Mr. Ikara urged the public to maintain personal hygiene and environmental sanitation, while customers should avoid consuming bushmeat and report any suspected cases immediately.
