Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has commiserated with the state House of Assembly and people of Lafiagi, headquarters of Edu Local Government Area of the state, over the demise of the pioneer Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Shehu Usman.
The Governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, described the former Speaker’s death as a huge loss to Lafiagi community and the state as a whole.
He said the late pioneer speaker was a visionary and exemplary leader who gave priority to the welfare of the people and sustained cordial executive/legislative relationship in the state.
According to the governor, “as the first Honourable Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Usman had brought to bear his wealth of experience in laying the foundation for the development of the then new House of Assembly and distinguished himself as a man of vision and pace setter; no wonder his tenure witnessed passage of people oriented legislations as well as remarkable promotion of harmony and peaceful coexistence among the diverse people of the state.
“He was a resourceful and accomplished public servant”, the Governor said.
