Lawyer Hits Back at Davido Amid Custody Dispute Drama

Date:

Afrobeats star David Adeleke has sparked fresh controversy in his ongoing custody dispute after withdrawing from the case involving his daughter, Imade. The singer announced late Friday that he would discontinue the proceedings, stressing that he had only sought joint custody and not full custody, and describing the outcome as a loss for the child rather than a victory for either party.

Davido explained that he withdrew because certain court proceedings had crossed an unacceptable line, including references to his late son, which he described as “the lowest blow.” He stated that his decision was driven by love and responsibility for his daughter, insisting that his actions would be understood over time.

The singer also criticised the opposing legal team on social media, alleging unprofessional conduct during the trial. On X and Instagram, he accused the lawyers representing his daughter’s mother, Sophia, of using distressing tactics and claimed he had been forced to correct them in court while enduring deeply personal attacks.

In response, the law firm representing Sophia issued a formal statement condemning what it described as harassment and intimidation by Davido on social media. The firm emphasized that the matter is sub judice and would be decided solely by the court, warning that threats against legal practitioners undermine justice and professional advocacy.

The custody dispute continues to draw widespread attention, with fans and observers calling for peaceful co-parenting. Both parties have maintained their positions amid public scrutiny, highlighting the ongoing tension between celebrity influence, media commentary, and the judicial process.
