The Oke – Ero Local Government Council in the Kwara South Senatorial District has been rated very high over the choice of projects executed by the Council.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata made this known during the inspection of projects executed by the Council, recently.

Projects inspected included electrification projects, grading of roads, water and repair of palaces of traditional rulers, among others. He expressed satisfaction with all the projects, asserting that the benefiting communities would greatly benefit from the projects.

The Commissioner disclosed that he was aware of the costs of the projects relative to other requests begging for similar attention and implored the Council to ensure the immediate needs assessment of other areas to determine the necessary interventions.

In his words, ‘’I have visited three Local Government Councils so far, but I must be sincere that the performances of the Councils can only be attributed to the leadership acumen of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who has ensured that Local Governments in the State have moved past only the payment of salary but are being strengthened to deliver the dividends of democracy to citizens’’.

He thanked the Council Chairman and his team for being a good ambassadors of their constituents by ensuring constant touch and most importantly by ensuring their immediate needs are attended to promptly.

At the palaces of the Elekan of Ekan Oba David Adekunle Olaniyan and Obajisun of Aiyedun, HRH Oba Olusegun Abayomi Rotimi, the Commissioner thanked the Royal Fathers for their continuous support and mobilization of their wards to support the policies and programmes of the government.

He disclosed that the Council’s intervention in the construction of a perimeter fence at their palaces was a demonstration of the importance the Council has attached to them, adding that more is expected from the monarchs to ensure their continuous support to the present administration.

Hon. Bata specifically appreciated the provision and electrification of more than 50 concrete poles and provision 500KVA transformer at the Kajola Community, adding that with the interventions, economic activities will be enhanced.

Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Chairman attributed the giant strides of the Council to the tremendous commitment of the present administration to the provision of basic social amenities, he appreciated the Royal Fathers for their positive roles in the maintenance of peace in their respective domains.

In her contribution, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Iyabo Modupe Adekeye thanked the Council Management for attending to the basic needs of their constituency and appealed to the technocrats to support the Executive Chairman to achieve the core mandate to ensure they offer professional advice the extant laws guiding procurement laws.

In their separate remarks, the Elekan of Ekan Oba David Adekunle Olaniyan and Obajisun of Aiyedun, HRH Oba Olusegun Abayomi Rotimi thanked the Council for identifying with them in the constructions of the perimeter fence to their palaces, which has further given them the required honour and regards required from any palace within the Council.

Other projects inspected were the complete renovation and furnishing of the Legislative Arm, Grading of several agrarian roads, provision of solar powered motorized boreholes at Odo – Owa, Iloffa, Erinmope, supply and installation of solar panel street lights at Idofin Odo Ashe, Idofin Igbana and extension of electricity line at Imoji, Egosi – Ile, and Imode, among others.
