LGs Polls: Don’t overheat the polity, Kwara CP warn politicians

Lawan Ado, CP Kwara Police Command

Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Kwara State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lawan Ado, warned politicians not to overheat the polity stressing that the command has put in place mechanism for peaceful conduct of the polls.

The CP who stated this on Wednesday at the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission,  (KWASIEC) headquarters in Ilorin shortly after paying a courtesy visit on the agency in preparation for the election. 

ROYAL NEWS reports that this is coming just as the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Kwara State chapter officially flagged-off its campaign for the poll at the State Party secretariat in Ilorin.

CP Ado also urged members of the general public to behave themselves in a matured manner in order to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the local government polls.

He however stressed that,  “No politician, no matter how highly placed would be exonerated from sanction if found wanton during the exercise. ”

In his remarks, the Chairman of KWASIEC, Dr. Usman Ajidagba,disclosed that “We are ready to forfeit a peaceful, fair,  transparent and acceptable local government election for the people of Kwara State. ”
