Two police officers have been injured while arresting a man with a knife outside Buckingham Palace.

Officers spotted a large knife in the man’s car after he stopped it near a police vehicle, and went to arrest him.

The officers were treated at the scene for minor arm injuries and were not taken to hospital, police said.

The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault.

The BBC understands no members of the Royal Family were in Buckingham Palace during the incident.
