Ministers Meet On Reconstruction Of Federal Roads In North-East

The Minister of Transportation, Sen. Said Alkali has sought for the reconstruction of some federal roads across the North Eastern States.

The Minister made the appeal when he paid a working visit to his counterpart in the Ministry of Works, Engr. David Umahi, in Abuja on Wednesday, adding that there is a need for a total reconstruction of the Gombe- Dukku- Darazo and Gombe – Bajoga – Nafada- Potiskum roads, which are currently in a deplorable state.

The Minister explained that an inlusion of the project into the 2025 appropriation will help in boosting the economic well-being of the populace.

The Minister in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Umar Alkali Jibril, maintained that the roads connecting Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Kano and other States in the North West where major human activities include farming, animal husbandry and trading, and that when road infrastructure is provided would improve the socio-economic status of the affected communities, thereby discouraging rural urban migration.

Responding, the Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi assured that no stone would be left unturned by his Ministry towards redeeming the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the Minister, bringing succour to Nigerians remains the cardinal principle of the present administration.
