Mother kills 7yr-old daughter by throwing her from 4-storeyed building

A seven-year-old girl, Aishika Sarkar, died after her mother threw her twice from their rented flat on the third floor of their building.

The incident took place in the south Indian city of Bangalore on Sunday Afternoon (27 August)

The 36-year-old mother identified as Sathi Sarkar, alias Swathi flung her daughter twice from their rented flat on the third floor at Jaraganahalli in JP Nagar.

Neighbours claimed that they saw the woman picked her injured and bleeding daughter from the ground, scoop her inside and throw her off the building in front of petrified neighbours.

Others said they heard the sound of the screaming child and saw Shreya on the ground when they came out to investigate.

“We thought she was taking her home which was on the third floor as she was bleeding. She instead threw her from atop the building” an eyewitness told Indian news publication Deccan Chronicle.

Residence of the area rounded her up, tied her to a pole and beat her up before handing her to the police.

Police suspect the woman is mentally unstable.

When questioned, she told police that she could do whatever she wanted with her daughter.

The child reportedly had speech development issues.

Her husband, Kanchen Sarkar has been separated from her for seven months but would visit and pay for maintenance.

Kenchen told police that his wife would often lose control over herself and assaulted the child.

He further told the police that Swathi went into severe depression after he left her and began blaming her daughter for their separation.

Swathi is still in police custody and she’s been interrogated.

A police source said that she would be sent to the National institute of Mental Health & Neutro Sciences (Nmhams) in the city for treatment as she showed sign of depression.
