Musician in court over alleged indecent dressing

A mobile court under the Kano Censorship Board has remanded a musician, Sadiq Zazzabi, for releasing an uncensored song and indecent dressing.
The singer pleaded guilty to the two-count charge which was read out to him in court by the Prosecutor, Malam Wada Wada, on Wednesday.
The prosecutor said the first charge of releasing an uncensored song, was an offence punishable under Section 112 of the Censorship Board Law of Kano State, 2002.
The second charge, according to the prosecutor, on indecent dressing, was contained in the video album of a political song by the accused, which was punishable under Sub-Section 95 of the Censorship Board Law of Kano State, 2002.
The Magistrate, Ali Gabari, who presided over the case, remanded the musician in custody at the Kano Prisons and adjourned the case to Friday, March 4, for judgment.
The musician had submitted a political song which he sang for former Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano but refused to wait for appropriate certification from the state Censorship Board, before formally releasing the song.
