N80.2bn alleged fraud: Ex-Kogi Gov, Yahaya Bello drags EFCC to S’ Court

Former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) declaration of him as wanted.

At the Federal High Court in Abuja, Bello’s lawyers, led by A. M. Adoyi, informed Justice Emeka Nwite about the pending appeal, filed on September 23. Adoyi urged the court to suspend the planned arraignment until the Supreme Court rules.

EFCC’s lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, accused Bello’s lawyer of undermining the judiciary’s integrity.

The EFCC had alleged that Bello resisted arrest, visiting their office with someone with immunity, potentially sparking altercations.

Justice Nwite, however, adjourned the matter until October 30 for ruling.
