NACOE matriculates students for 2023/24 academic session



Nigerian Army College of Education (NACOE) on Tuesday conducted the 2023/2024 Academic Session matriculation ceremony for Degree and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) students at Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.

Speaking at the event, the Provost NACOE, Maj Gen Umar Nasir Babangida noted that NACOE has undergone a lot of transformation as an offshoot of the defunct Nigerian Army School of Education, established in 1970.

“It is worthy to note that NACOE, presently runs 10 courses for Degree Programmes in affiliation with Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) Ijebu-Ode Ogun State and 19 course combinations for NCE programme, which are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission and National Commission for Colleges of Education respectively.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the Provost also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja for his support and funding of the College.

He also expressed his profound gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, TASUED, Professor Oluwole Sikiru Banjo for the supervisory, advisory and capacity building efforts towards NACOE, which has put the College in a better stead.

Maj Gen Babangida further urged the matriculating students to remain focused as the matriculation ceremony signifies the beginning of academic sojourn of individual students on a path to self-discovery, development, academic strive and contribution to the advancement of the society.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion, include: the Commandant Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology, Maj Gen SS Ibrahim represented by the Director Coordination, Col AO Sofoluwe, the Vice Chancellor TASUED, represented by the Director Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Prof WJ Owoyele.

Other dignitaries include the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education Kwara State, Dr Mary Ayinde, represented by Mr SA Atanni, among other guests at the event.
