The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its air component under Operation HADIN KAI has destroyed terrorist strongholds in Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains along the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
According to the NAF, the precision airstrikes carried out on May 19 were based on credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The operations targeted key terrorist enclaves hidden within the rugged terrain.
The Air Force said the strikes destroyed logistics hubs, structures, and assembly areas used by the terrorists. It added that several fighters were neutralised, while planned attacks were disrupted.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation reflects the NAF’s ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and deny them freedom of action. He noted that sustained air offensives will continue in affected areas.
He also quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, as reaffirming commitment to intelligence-driven joint operations with other security agencies and partners, aimed at eliminating terrorist hideouts and restoring stability in the North-East and other affected regions.
