NDLEA ban sales of hard-drugs in Kwara
The Kwara State Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has warned patient medicine dealers to be wary of the drugs they sale to the general public.
The State Commandant, Barr. Ona Ogilegwu, said this on Tuesday at the anti-drug abuse seminar held in Ilorin entitled: “I am a stakeholder in Drug Abuse Control”, ROYAL NEWS reports.
He urged NAPPMED not to sale hard and narcotic drugs to the public adding that all hands must be on deck to reverse the trend as well as also support the agency in the fight against drug abuse in the state.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, Pharm. Ayo Kale, urged youths not to engage in drug abuse while urging NDLEA to work with the constituted authority in fighting against drug abuse.
He added that religious leaders should preach against drug abuse in the society and also implored parents to keep eyes on their wards.

Speaking further, the Kwara state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Alhaji Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe, noted that drug abuse is the biggest problem and challenge facing the Nigerian Society and the world at large added that majority of those involved in drugs are the youths,
He said: “We all know that the youths now constitute the larger part of our population and it is imperative to pay particular attention to this group as they form the nucleus of the problem in both abuse and distribution.”
Ajeigbe who maintained that illicit drug usage and abuse is a serious public health problem that affect almost every community and family stressed the need for family skills training programs to prevent substance use among children and adolescents.
