The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a new digital platform designed to simplify and modernise the process of obtaining drug integrity tests and visa clearance certificates.
The platform, known as the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System, was unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja by NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), who described it as a major step toward transparency and efficiency in the agency’s operations.
Represented by the agency’s Secretary, Shadrach Haruna, Marwa said the online system supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and embodies NDLEA’s balanced approach to drug control — targeting both supply and demand reduction.
He noted that the old manual process for obtaining visa clearance certificates was plagued by paperwork, in-person appearances, and delays, which often created room for human interference.
“With the flag-off of the Online Visa Clearance Portal today, we are bringing an end to those bottlenecks,” Marwa said. “The system automates all processes related to the Drug Integrity Test and Visa Clearance, integrates partner agencies, and removes human interference and delays.”
The NDLEA boss added that the new platform allows applicants to create accounts, book appointments, and complete applications entirely online via the agency’s website. Private medical centres can also register as accredited partners for drug integrity testing.
Certificates for drug tests will now be generated instantly, while visa clearance certificates will be processed within three days, or up to a week in special cases.
Marwa explained that the system includes E-Certification and Verification features to prevent document falsification and protect Nigeria’s international reputation. Supervisory dashboards will also provide real-time monitoring across NDLEA offices nationwide.
“The portal integrates sophisticated background checks to ensure that the certificate remains a robust security instrument that safeguards Nigeria’s credibility and prevents drug syndicates from exploiting legitimate travel channels,” he said.
Beyond visa applicants, NDLEA said the digital platform will also be open to students, corporate organisations, parents, and prospective couples who wish to conduct drug integrity tests.
